Stargazing on the Gunflint Trail

Monday, December 13, 2010 by Sue prom
It will be worth a drive up the Gunflint Trail tonight to check out the Germinid meteor showers.  Free of light pollution the night sky near the BWCA is perfect for stargazing and watching meteor showers.  They peak tonight and you may be able to see up to 100 per hour.  It's always an amazing sight to see.
You will want to bundle up and find a warm snowbank to relax in.  Last night the temperature after midnight was around 12 degrees below zero and by sunrise this morning the thermometer read negative 26 degrees actual temperature.
Just another reason to visit the Gunflint Trail.
