Wind Prevents Voyageur Crew from Paddling on Day 18

Thursday, June 9, 2011 by Sue prom
I'm so happy our Voyageur Expedition Crew chose not to paddle yesterday.  When I spoke to Andrew the other day they were hoping for a calm day to cross the big part of Lake of the Woods.  With the size and depth of the lake big rolling waves can become a problem especially with the water temperatures being so cold.  Thankfully the guys are being cautious and decided not to fight the wind and waves.
It's always fun to imagine what they are doing when they aren't paddling.  They weren't in the middle of the wilderness and they were close to a town, but without wheels I'm not sure what their transportation options would allow them to do.
Hopefully they got some rest for the crossing of Lake of the Woods on Day 19.
